Submit Proposal for the 2017 SymposiumPlease fill out the form below
Paper proposals for original and ongoing research are welcome in any area of Catholic moral theology. In light of the fiftieth anniversary of publication of Bl. Paul VI’s Populorum progressio in 1967, we especially invite considerations of this encyclical, which Benedict XVI called “the Rerum novarum of our age.” Possible topics include the encyclical’s relationship to many issues of contemporary relevance (not just integral human development, but also structural injustice, the effects of colonialism, inequality, social unrest, the role of the family), its influence on Pope Francis, its relationship to liberation theology, its role in developing a Christian humanism, or its place within the Church’s social teaching more broadly. Submission deadline has passed (April 1st).
