The accommodations at Moreau Seminary are modest. Participants are housed on the 4th floor of the seminary, and this means the rooms are not air conditioned. There are fans in each room, as well as sinks, and the space is set up such that there are designated male and female bathroom areas/shower areas. Many people bring flip-flops for the shower stalls, as well as bags/shower caddy to carry stuff to and from their rooms. Some pack their own pillows, extra bath towels, and soap (because the towels provided are somewhat small, as well as the soap). Thus feel free to bring things that will make your stay comfortable (e.g., your favorite pillow, extra blanket or bath towels, etc).

Conference participants have access to the Moreau Seminary kitchen at all times. This means the following. There is always a pot of coffee (regular and decaf) brewing and tea available; Most bring travel mugs and water bottles along for the duration of the conference.

There is time set aside in the daily schedule for rest and relaxation. Some participants use this time to rest while others head to the gym or take a walk around the one-mile dirt trail behind the seminary. In addition to rest periods, we have snack breaks during the day and evening socials with beer/wine/soda/pop.

Last but not least, attire during the conference is casual (except some include a nice outfit for mass on Sunday morning in The Log Chapel). The conference room in which we gather is air conditioned, but the Dining Hall and Lower Rec Room where we hang out each evening is not (although the latter manages to stay modestly cool throughout the day and evening hours).

Conference participants travel several ways to South Bend, Indiana- by plane into South Bend Regional Airport (code SBN), train, bus, or car. The train and bus stations are located at the airport. We will ask all conference participants to provide us with their travel information before the conference begins in order to work out arrangements for pick-up and drop-off. Most of the time we are able to coordinate logistics for everyone’s travel plans.

If one is driving to the conference, here are directions: Moreau Seminary is located on Douglas Rd. approximately ¼ east of N. Michigan St (also called state road 933 or Business 31). (Those of you mapquest-ing can find the proximate area by looking up a hotel at the corner of Douglas and N. Michigan, the Inn at St. Mary’s, 53993 State Road 933, South Bend, IN.) Proceeding east on Douglas from N Michigan St, go to the second entrance on the right, where there will a metal gate (open for us in the afternoon and early evening only) to go through and park. That is the front door or the Seminary where someone will be waiting for you. If you enter through the next entrance 100 yds further, there is no gate (and so those arriving late must enter here), but once you park you need to walk back across the grass to the other entrance to get in.

New Wineskins meets the same time each year- usually the last full weekend in July- and meets Thursday thru Sunday. Our goal is to think together, pray together, and eat together, with the goal of fostering good conversation and personal relationships with each other. As most participants quickly learn, this is no ordinary conference!

The conference begins with a social and evening meal on Thursday evening (starting at 5 pm) and concludes after mass and brunch on Sunday (mass at 9 am and brunch at The Morris Inn from 10-12 Noon). The Friday and Saturday schedule begins at 8 am with breakfast together in Moreau Dining Hall, followed by morning sessions, mass then lunch, afternoon sessions, late afternoon break time, and evening meal and social time in the Lower Rec Room of Moreau Seminary. Conference participants are urged to make their travel arrangements such that they can be a part of all the activities Thursday through Sunday.

We will post a more detailed scheduled toward the end of May.
